If you’re looking for a way to increase your connection to Tulsa Ballet and give back to your community, consider joining our Volunteer Program!

Volunteer Program Mission: To train and educate members of the Tulsa Ballet family to serve as committed volunteers and ambassadors who provide information and enthusiasm to our subscribers, donors, students and community members.

Volunteer Program Vision: A core of enthusiastic, well-trained volunteers serving in roles that add value to guest experiences.

The Tulsa Ballet Volunteer Program offers several opportunities to get involved:

Backstage 

Knowledgeable individuals to work under precise instructions of backstage staff. Opportunities include: Wardrobe assistance during performances or providing food for dancers, crew and staff during performances. Must be 18 or older. Click for more

Location: Tulsa Ballet’s Studio K at Brookside campus, Tulsa Performing Arts Center, Lorton Performance Center

Time:    Evenings and weekends

Physical Demands: Able to stand for several hours at a time and walk up and down stairs. Must have good eyesight and not easily offended by sweat and body odor.

Center for Dance Education & Outreach

Outgoing individuals to distribute school information during expos. Work with children during outreach programs or performances. Assist staff with clerical needs. May require background check. Click for more

Time:    Daytimes, Evenings, Weekends

We’ve identified the following opportunities within the Center for Dance Education and Outreach volunteer section:

  • Open House (at both campuses) guides
  • Student enrollment follow ups
  • Center for Dance Education student recruitment games at Tulsa Performing Arts Center
  • Performance Children Wranglers: check in/out and assist backstage
  • Goodwill hosts during the first week of classes (both campuses)
  • Summer Intensive daily check in/out
  • Demonstration ushers
  • Observation week class guides
  • Library program ushers
  • Pre-k program classroom assistants in partner schools
  • Student testing assistant
  • Assisting with Nutcracker Auditions for children
  • Holiday markets/other expos sales and marketing including booth set up and take down
  • Research Assistant for Alumni Program for students and former Nutcracker youth cast 
Customer Experience Ambassadors

Welcoming individuals to assist at pre-performance lectures. Staff the VIP Lounge receptions for donors at Tulsa Performing Arts Center performances. Click for more

Time:    Evenings, Weekends

Physical Demands: Able to stand for an hour at a time.

Docent Program

Experienced ballet individuals who give talks on Tulsa Ballet and its repertoire, impart knowledge of dance history and technical aspects of ballet to the public, assist donors attending rehearsals, assist at special presentations and seminars, and give backstage tours. Specific training required. Some research required. Working knowledge of Tulsa Ballet required.Click for more

Event Volunteers

Approachable, customer-facing individuals to assist staff with various event needs including setting up, taking down, and during events. Some lifting may be required.Click for more

Time:    Daytimes, Evenings, Weekends

Physical Demands: Able to stand for several hours at a time, work under pressure, lift up to 25 pounds, and participate in physical activity required for events.

Merchandise & Concessions Sales

Pleasant, customer-facing individuals to assist in Tulsa Ballet’s merchandise shops at Leaps & Grounds (Brookside campus) and at theater locations. Assist with inventory, display, and sales. Assist staff at various expos or events. Some lifting may be required.Click for more

Physical Demands: Able to stand for several hours at a time; able to bend and lift up to 25 pounds and participate in physical activity.

Office Assistance

Detail oriented individuals to provide clerical help such as data entry for various company departments, assist with marketing, promotion, and delivery of marketing materials to public locations. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite products required for data entry and research. May work alone.Click for more

Patron Contacts

Engaging, well-spoken individuals to call donors for various development and marketing needs such as phonathon, thank-a-thon, subscriber thank you calls, thank you notes, etc. Must be comfortable making calls to individuals you do not know.Click for more

We’ve identified the following opportunities within the Patron Contacts volunteer sector:

  • Phonathon: donor solicitation calls
  • Thankathon: thank you calls
  • New ticket buyer thank you calls, provide answers to commonly asked questions
  • Marketing renewal calls/special offers to previous ticket purchasers
  • Thank you notes to subscribers, Center for Dance Education parents, donors, etc.
Performance Ushers

Friendly, customer-facing individuals to act as ushers for Studio K (Brookside campus) and Zarrow Performance Studio (Broken Arrow campus) performances. May require background check.Click for more

Wardrobe
