Volunteer Program Mission: To train and educate members of the Tulsa Ballet family to serve as committed volunteers and ambassadors who provide information and enthusiasm to our subscribers, donors, students and community members.

Volunteer Program Vision: A core of enthusiastic, well-trained volunteers serving in roles that add value to guest experiences.

CURRENT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

CENTER FOR DANCE EDUCATION & OUTREACH

Outgoing individuals to distribute school information during expos. Work with children during outreach programs or performances. Assist staff with clerical needs.

Location: Tulsa Ballet’s Brookside campus and Broken Arrow campus

Time:    Daytimes, Evenings, Weekends

We’ve identified the following opportunities within the Center for Dance Education and Outreach volunteer section:

  • Open House (at both campuses) guides
  • Center for Dance Education student recruitment games at Tulsa Performing Arts Center
  • Performance Children Wranglers: check in/out and assist backstage
  • Goodwill hosts during the first week of classes (both campuses)
  • Summer Intensive daily check in/out
  • Demonstration ushers
  • Observation week class guides
  • Library program ushers
  • Pre-k program classroom assistants in partner schools
  • Student testing assistant
  • Assisting with Nutcracker Auditions for children
  • Holiday markets/other expos sales and marketing including booth set up and take down
  • Research Assistant for Alumni Program for students and former Nutcracker youth cast
MERCH & CONSESSION SALES

Pleasant, customer-facing individuals to assist in Tulsa Ballet’s merchandise shops at Leaps & Grounds (Brookside campus) and at theater locations. Assist with inventory, display, and sales. Assist staff at various expos or events. Some lifting may be required.

Physical Demands: Able to stand for several hours at a time; able to bend and lift up to 25 pounds and participate in physical activity.

We’ve identified the following opportunities within the Merch & Concession Sales volunteer sector:

  • Leaps and Grounds shifts
  • Annual Inventory
  • Tulsa Performing Arts Center set up and sales
  • Holiday markets/other expos
PRODUCTION

Knowledgeable individuals to work with production department as runners during performances. May work curtain or help with backstage operations during special events.

Physical Demands: Able to sit/stand for several hours and lift up to 25 pounds.

COSTUME SHOP

Knowledgeable individuals to work under precise instructions of wardrobe staff. Assist staff with crafting projects and costume maintenance. Basic sewing skills required. Specific training required.

Physical Demands: Must have strong hands and hand-sewing skills for boots.

  • Costume maintenance
  • Boot construction
OFFICE ASSISTANCE

Detail oriented individuals to provide clerical help such as data entry for various company departments, assist with marketing, promotion, and delivery of marketing materials to public locations. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite products required for data entry and research. May work alone.

  • Fold and stuff envelopes for marketing and development mailings

DRESSER

Knowledgeable individuals to work under precise instructions of backstage staff. Opportunities include: Wardrobe assistance during performances. Must be 18 or older.

Time:    Evenings and weekends

Physical Demands: Able to stand for several hours at a time and walk up and down stairs. Must have good eyesight and not easily offended by sweat and body odor.

PATRON CALLS

Engaging, well-spoken individuals to call donors for various development and marketing needs such as phonathon, thank-a-thon, subscriber thank you calls, etc. Must be comfortable making calls to individuals you do not know.

  • Phonathon: donor solicitation calls
  • Thankathon: thank you calls
  • New ticket buyer thank you calls, provide answers to commonly asked questions
  • Marketing renewal calls/special offers to previous ticket purchasers
EVENT VOLUNTEERS

Approachable, customer-facing individuals to assist staff with various event needs including setting up and taking down, and during events. Staff and assist at pre-performance lectures and the VIP Lounge receptions for donors at Tulsa Performing Arts Center performances. Some lifting may be required.
