FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 7th, 2022

TULSA, OK – The much anticipated American Premiere of Vendetta, a Mafia Story, is hitting the Tulsa Performing Arts Center stage February 10-13 after the pandemic caused it to be rescheduled five times over the last two years.

Belgian choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa transforms the stage into a captivating world of drama, passion, and humor for a performance that will take the audience from Chicago to Las Vegas.

“I am extremely excited to finally present Vendetta in Tulsa,” says choreographer Ochoa. “The piece is inspired by the iconic Hollywood movie The Godfather, a highly entertaining story full of suspense, twists and turns. Like Covid, which is still giving us a lot of plot twists and suspenseful moments, I am hoping that this time Vendetta will hit the stage and entertain the audience with a night full of Italian music, exquisite dancing and some pasta for the lovers of Italian cuisine.”

Artistic Director Marcello Angelini says, “I am thrilled that after postponing the US Premiere of Vendetta five times, the time has finally come to raise the curtain on this great new work. On March 17th, 2020, we had just finished learning Vendetta and the company did its first run-through of the piece. There was a mix of euphoria and anxiety in the air, and the dancers were excited for having danced the ballet for the first time in its entirety, but the news that had been coming in for the last few days was getting bleaker by the hour. That was the last day we danced that season, as the next day I had to call our Artists to inform them Tulsa Ballet was temporarily shutting down. Premiering Vendettacloses a sad chapter in the history of our company, one that opened on that faithful March 17th, 2020. We had hoped to be in a different place by the time of its actual premiere, definitely not facing yet another surge in the COVID pandemic. Still, seeing the curtain raise on this mafia story, will be a moment of colossal celebration!”

Tickets start at $25. Masks are currently required to be worn at all times in the Tulsa Performing Arts Center.
