TULSA BALLET TO PERFORM TRIPLE-BILL PERFORMANCE AT STUDIO K, POSTPONES VENDETTA, A MAFIA STORY

TULSA, OK – Tulsa Ballet will be offering a socially distanced triple-bill performance this March, ahead of a change in the remainder of their 20/21 season that postponed the American premiere of Vendetta, a Mafia Story to their 21/22 season.

After a successful holiday performance at the Cox Business Convention Center in December, Tulsa Ballet will be continuing its 20/21 season in Studio K on Brookside with Signature Series, a triple-bill performance featuring three choreographers. Audiences can expect to see the return of an incredible piece by Jennifer Archibald and two brand new World Premieres by British choreographer Andrew McNicol and Boston-based choreographer Yury Yanowsky.

Among the many changes in Tulsa Ballet’s 20/21 season due to the pandemic, Vendetta, a Mafia Story has been forced to be rescheduled for the fifth time since its original American premiere date in March 2020 in order to ensure the piece can safely be performed.

“This decision wasn’t taken lightly,” says Artistic Director Marcello Angelini. “But I believe it’s the only reasonable one. The US premiere of Vendetta is a large scale production with an equally large cast of characters dancing on stage at the same. With social distancing protocols expected to remain in place for the next several months, Vendetta cannot be performed as it was intended. As always, the safety of our dancers, employees, and audience members continues to be our top priority.”  Vendetta’s sets and costumes will stay in Tulsa for the next 13 months, giving ample time to reschedule its premiere in the not too distant future.

Limited seating for Signature Series will be available to the public, due to social distancing requirements, but a live stream option will be available. For more information visit TulsaBallet.org.
