LOVE AND REVENGE – TULSA REVIVES GISELLE AFTER 6 YEARS
TULSA, OK – After a 6-year absence, Tulsa Ballet brings the ballet masterpiece Giselle back to the Tulsa Performing Arts Center October 30th – November 2nd. Not seen in Tulsa since 2019, Artistic Director Marcello Angelini brings to life this haunting tale of love, revenge, and forgiveness, one that has thrilled audiences for over 150 years.
The ballet tells the story of a young peasant girl who dies of heartbreak after being deceived by her lover, only to return in spirit form with the Wilis—ghostly maidens who condemn men to dance to their death. The famous “Mad Scene” in Act I remains one of the most demanding moments for any ballerina, while the role of Albrecht tests both technical virtuosity and dramatic depth.
Artistic Director Marcello Angelini says, “…Giselle is the ultimate classical ballet, and one that will always come alive when the curtain goes up. The story, even if told in 19th century social form, is part of the human experience that transcends time, one of love, deceit, tragedy, reflection and ultimate forgiveness.
