Tulsa Ballet announces its season closer, Signature Series – a dazzling triple bill May 8-11, 2025
Tulsa, OK — April 8, 2025 — Tulsa Ballet is proud to announce the return of its annual season closing performance of Signature Series, set to close the company’s 2024/2025 Season with an unforgettable evening of dance. This event will feature three exhilarating works by three of the most dynamic choreographers in the dance world, ensuring that there is something for everyone, regardless of their taste in dance.
The 2025 Signature Series will showcase a powerful mix of celebrated classics and exciting premieres. Audiences will be treated to the return of two beloved pieces from Tulsa Ballet’s history, each captivating in its own right:
Classical Symphony – An original work by world renowned Yuri Possokhov, who serves as Choreographer in Residence for the San Francisco Ballet, Classical Symphony has garnered widespread acclaim for its vibrant energy and intricate choreography. Tulsa Ballet first performed Possokhov’s version of this piece in 2013 and again during the company’s 2016 tour in Italy, where it electrified audiences on a world-wide stage, earning Tulsa Ballet the reputation of “…one of the five most significant American Ballet companies” for its performances in Italy. A dazzling exploration of movement and music, this piece is a true crowd-pleaser.
Divenire – Created by the highly regarded Nicolo Fonte, who serves as Resident Choreographer for Ballet West, Divenire made its debut at Tulsa Ballet’s Creations in Studio K in 2022 and later wowed audiences at the prestigious Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival during the company’s first appearance in 2023. Known for its emotive choreography and deeply resonant score, Divenire is sure to leave a lasting impression.
Plus, the public premiere of a fun and edgy piece choreographed to iconic pop music:
Legends of Pop – Choreographed by the incomparable Kenneth Tindall (who recently choreographed Tulsa Ballet’s World Premiere of Alice in Wonderland), Legends of Pop is an exciting and fresh work inspired by the iconic figures who have shaped the pop music landscape. Debuted at the 2024 Icons & Idols fundraising event, this piece promises to bring an innovative and energetic fusion of dance and music, celebrating the icons whose influence continues to inspire.
Tulsa Ballet’s Signature Series has become a staple of the company’s season, known for offering audiences a diverse experience. This year’s performance is no exception, combining the emotional depth of classical ballet with cutting-edge contemporary choreography.
