TULSA, OK – Tulsa Ballet is closing out their 65th Anniversary Season with a triple bill featuring two of Artistic Director Marcello Angelini’s favorite works, plus an exciting World Premiere.

Of the triple bill program Angelini says, “It’s no secret that while I LOVE the classics like Swan Lake and The Nutcracker, Signature Series is my favorite program of the year. It is the program where I showcase the more edgy, provocative, poignant, sometimes contemporary, sometimes modern dances of the season. Those are the pieces that have made a significant contribution to the growth of the field, the turning points of the art form, the milestones of dance. Those are also the works of the masters of dance of past and present times.”

In keeping with this programming philosophy, Tulsa Ballet’s Signature Series will feature three fantastic works from three exceptional dance makers.

Remember Our Song | Andy Blankenbuehler

Created for the company in 2019 by Tony-Award winner and choreographer of Hamilton, Andy Blankenbuehler, Remember Our Song became an instant Tulsa favorite as it followed the lives of seven World War II servicemen abroad a submarine whose daydreams of being in the arms of their loved ones became their escapism from life underwater. It is truly a nostalgic, passionate, and unforgettable masterpiece.

O Balcão de Amor | Itzik Galili

A quirky tribute to the culture of Cuba that will have you tapping your toes and laughing out loud. With energetic music and characters that perfectly embody comedy and sexiness, you’ll love the lighthearted absurdity enfolding on stage.

World Premiere |Andrew McNicol

After the success of the exhilarating piece he created for Tulsa Ballet over Zoom all the way from London during our unconventional 2020|2021 season, McNicol will be returning, this time in person, for another undoubtedly exciting World Premiere! The piece was especially commissioned by Artistic Director Marcello Angelini as the commemorative work for the 65th Anniversary Season.

Signature Series will be performed at the Lorton Performance Center May 12-15. Tickets start at $46 and are available at TulsaBallet.org.
