Tulsa, Okla. – June, 2017 – Beginning this month, Tulsa Ballet will host the twenty-second year of Pointe to the Future, with exciting new offerings including a brand new Choreography Workshop with Tulsa Ballet’s Resident Choreographer, Ma Cong, for our Senior students. These programs offer students the opportunity to train with “one of the best ballet companies in the world” as well as guest artists from the international dance community.  This year, the Junior Intensive classes will be held at our brand new, state of the art Broken Arrow Campus-Hardesty Center, in Broken Arrow.

Pointe to the Future is one of the few summer ballet intensives with a Junior program geared toward students ages 9-12, as most professional ballet schools only offer intensive summer training for students starting in high school.  This is a unique opportunity for local students and other students across the country to continue in their ballet training during the summer months.

Tulsa Ballet Artistic Director Marcello Angelini says, “Our goal is to immerse dance students into as many different styles of classical and contemporary dance as possible in order to develop their classical ballet technique and their versatility. We want our students to be invigorated with a vision of the potential before them.” Tulsa Ballet Center for Dance Education provides world-class ballet training, in a friendly atmosphere, and introduces students to a variety of auxiliary dance styles in our newly expanded Junior Intensive program.

Tulsa Ballet is proud to be able to offer an extended program for our younger students, due to the space provided at our new Broken Arrow Campus- Hardesty Center.  Tulsa Ballet Education and Outreach Manager Colleen Lahti says, “In previous summers, students in our Junior Intensive were limited to a half-day of training, due to the number of students and studio space at the Brookside Campus-SemGroup Center.  Now, because of having more state of the art studio space, and the in-house performance studio available, the Junior Intensive schedule has doubled, and the additional classes we only dreamed of offering before are now a wonderful reality.”

You are invited to Pointe to the Future Junior Intensive Final Demonstration: Friday, June 23, 2:00pm – Anne and Henry Zarrow Performance Studio, 1901 W New Orleans Street, Broken Arrow, OK. The Final Demonstration will be a cumulative, informal exhibition of what Junior Intensive students have learned over the previous weeks.  For more information call 918-712-LEAP.
