TULSA, OK – Tulsa Ballet is proud to announce the return of the Hardesty Family Foundation Children’s Series presentation of Jack and the Beanstalk. This original production will return to Tulsa Ballet’s Studio K on Brookside October 13-14.
This production is the result of Tulsa Ballet recognizing the need for engaging live entertainment for children who might be new to the world of dance. Knowing how much children love storybook ballets like The Nutcracker and The Sleeping Beauty, Tulsa Ballet created this magical 40-minute long ballet, complete with sets and costumes by Tracy Lord Grant and exciting choreography by Ma Cong. A musical score assembled by Principal Company Pianist Andrew Lahti and narration by Dan McGeehan, who also adapted the story, help create an entertaining and educational performance. The production is perfect for both schools and families, and is one that all ages will enjoy. Tulsa Ballet has also developed a study guide to assist teachers in acquainting the students with both the story and ballet before attending.
The Hardesty Family Foundation Children’s Series was a long-time vision of Artistic Director Marcello Angelini with the hope of introducing young people to dance. Managing Director, Scott Black, says, “We will be offering this production to school groups and families at our Brookside and Broken Arrow facilities during the season. We are committed to keeping ticket prices low thanks to our funding partner, the Hardesty Family Foundation.”
Tulsa Ballet will also present Jack and the Beanstalk to all Tulsa Public Schools 5th graders throughout September and October. Students will be bussed in from across the district to enjoy a performance and Q&A session with dancers.
