Over 160 local children join the professional artists of Tulsa Ballet in a beloved holiday tradition – The Nutcracker!
Tulsa, OK – Tulsa Ballet is proud to announce that over 160 local children from communities throughout Green Country have been chosen to perform in this season’s production of The Nutcracker. After a joyful and competitive audition process, young dancers from more than a dozen towns will join Tulsa Ballet’s professional company on stage.
Every year, children from across Green Country audition for the chance to perform alongside Tulsa Ballet’s professional artists at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center. These children will take the stage as mischievous mice, brave soldiers, playful toy horses, twirling hawk angels, and a variety of sweets and cakes.
Lauren Richter, School Director for Tulsa Ballet Center for Dance Education, shares:
“We are so proud of all of the children who will be performing in The Nutcracker with Tulsa Ballet this season! For our young dancers, this is such a special experience – getting to share the stage with our professional company and be part of a beloved holiday tradition that brings joy to so many families. Opportunities like this allow our students to grow not only as dancers, but also as confident, creative young artists. We are thrilled to celebrate their hard work and can’t wait to see them shine in this year’s performances of The Nutcracker!”
Parents and family members travel from across the region to cheer on their performers, making the production a meaningful gathering point during the holiday season. Teachers and directors from Tulsa Ballet Center for Dance Education ensure that each child receives guidance and mentorship tailored to their age and level of experience.
Participants hail from Tulsa and surrounding cities, including Bixby, Bristow, Broken Arrow, Chouteau, Claremore, Collinsville, Jenks, Morris, Owasso, Sand Springs, Sapulpa, Tahlequah, Tulsa, and Wewoka. Their role assignments range from mischievous mice and brave toy soldiers to playful toy horses, twirling hawk angels, and a colorful array of sweets and cakes—each bringing its own moment of magic to the stage.
