The Ugly Duckling: Beyond the Fairytale is a contemporary ballet that reimagines a familiar story through the lens of growing up. Beginning in a restrained, muted world where movement and color feel limited, the dancers travel through moments of isolation, comparison, and quiet resilience.
As the ballet unfolds, the stage gradually opens into richer movement and brighter color, suggesting change that comes not from magic, but from time, self-recognition, and courage. This is not a simple transformation story, but a reflection on what it means to outgrow the labels placed on us and to discover beauty on our own terms.
