Romeo and Juliet

February 12-14, 2016

This emotionally stunning ballet combines intensity and passion to portray William Shakespeare’s tragic story of two star-crossed lovers.

Originally choreographed for Tulsa Ballet in 2012, Romeo and Juliet is not to be missed! Edwaard Liang is one of the ballet world’s “choreographers du jour.” His works appear in the repertoires of The Joffrey Ballet, Kirov Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, and Houston Ballet among other top companies. When Artistic Director Marcello Angelini commissioned this version of Romeo and Juliet for Tulsa Ballet, the former New York City Ballet dancer had only created short abstract contemporary pieces. His first classical full-length was an audience favorite!

“But this is a Romeo and Juliet to last. The love scenes are exquisitely musical; the story is well told; and the choreography holds one’s attention throughout,” said Wendy Perron of Dance Magazine.

The Taming of the Shrew

October 23-25, 2015

William Shakespeare’s famous comedy springs to life through masterful choreography by the legendary John Cranko with music by Domenico Scarlatti freely arranged by Kurt-Heinz Stolze. This critically acclaimed production sheds a hysterical light on the path to the couple’s stormy relationship and the multiple bumps and bruises along the way. Stunning scenery and remarkable costumes bring the Elizabethan period to life for a side-splitting examination of love and marriage. Tulsa Ballet presented the Oklahoma premiere of the show in 2011 and is excited to bring this fast-paced comedic work back to Tulsa.
