Swashbuckling Adventure Swings into the Tulsa PAC with
Tulsa Ballet’s The Three Musketeers
Tulsa, OKLA. – March, 2025 – Tulsa Ballet’s production of The Three Musketeers brings a swashbuckling, action-packed ballet to the stage for the first time in over a decade. Choreographed by André Prokovsky and set to an original score by Giuseppe Verdi, this full-length ballet showcases a male-driven cast, with the three legendary Musketeers—Athos, Porthos, and Aramis—joined by the spirited D’Artagnan in their mission to protect Queen Anne and France. With thrilling swordplay, comedy, and daring choreography, this production offers an exciting and dynamic experience.
Audiences can expect to follow the three Musketeers through a combination of action, romance and comedy as the musketeers set out to protect the honor of Queen Anne from the conniving Cardinal Richelieu. The Three Musketeers has delighted and charmed audiences since the first time Tulsa Ballet brought this to the stage a decade ago. The family-friendly ballet is infused with lots of swordplay, slapstick humor and bravura male dancing.
When Tulsa Ballet Artistic Director Marcello Angelini was asked why he liked this work so much, he said, “Because it’s about male dancers! If you look at the classical ballet repertory, in the ‘story ballets’ department, what names come to mind? Cinderella, Giselle, La Sylphide, The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake… All ballets about women, where the ladies of the company are the stars and the boys are relegated to the ‘supporting actor’ role. Not so with Musketeers: the boys have top billing, they are the featured stars of the work.”
Featuring a sweeping, original score by British composer Giuseppe Verdi, this production brings a new level of drama to the stage, performed live by the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra. The grandeur of the score perfectly complements the athleticism and artistry of Tulsa Ballet’s world-class dancers, creating a dynamic and unforgettable experience. All for one and one for all!
